It's very powerful, it has a good diagonal composition leading your eye from the big red balloon down the string to the couple kissing, and back up again. Black and white images with a red accent is a always a winner.

The figures are solid, the balloon is solid...everything significant in this image is solid...flat, bold, strong.

The background is hazy, almost to the point of being hard to read. I understand that this was in order to avoid taking away from the subjects, however the subjects are so graphic-designy and the background is so washed out that they almost don't fit in that world.

I think that if you made the background as solid and bold as the figures it would turn this into quite a nice design piece.

Perhaps leaving the background simple bold black outlines with all white inside would make it fit together better without distracting or confusing the viewer from what is significant here.


But I'm probably wrong. And I love the image as it is...I just don't like the haziness.

thanks for your suggestions. I've gotten a few comments on other pieces about haziness. on one hand, i already start with a solid to see what it looks like, but i like a slight fuzz to push the shapes back a bit. I think i'll lighten up on that fuzz next time though, given all the feedback. Thanks again!
